What is AgarFi?
How the Game Works
AgarFi is based on Agar.io, a 2015 browser game where players control circular cells ("blobs") on a 2D map. You start small and grow by consuming food pellets and smaller players. Larger players move slower. You can split your mass to catch opponents or eject mass to escape. Last player standing or largest mass after 30 minutes wins.
Winner-Takes-All Stakes
Players pay USDC to enter lobbies ($5, $25, $50, or $100 per game). Winner receives 80% of the total pot. 15% goes to platform fees, 5% used for AGAR token buybacks. All transactions recorded on Solana blockchain. No random elements—outcome determined purely by player skill and strategy.
Gameplay mechanics are deterministic with server-authoritative physics running at 60Hz tick rate. Movement speed is inversely proportional to mass. Cell splitting follows predictable trajectories. No random number generation (RNG) affects outcomes. Win conditions based on survival time and total mass accumulated—both direct results of player decisions.
Technical Architecture: Real-time multiplayer via Socket.io, blockchain settlements via Solana Web3.js, authentication via x403 signatures, payments via x402 HTTP protocol.

x403 Protocol
WALLET SIGNATURE AUTHENTICATION
Authentication protocol using ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) to verify wallet ownership. Server generates challenge message, client signs with private key, server validates signature matches public address.
How x403 Works:
When you connect your wallet, x403 generates a unique challenge message. You sign this message with your private key (only you can do this). The signature proves you own the wallet without revealing your private key. This signature-based authentication is bot-resistant and requires zero personal information.
How AgarFi Uses x403:
Every lobby join requires a fresh wallet signature to verify you're the real owner. We cache your session for 35 minutes to reduce signing friction. One wallet = one active game enforced. No bots can fake wallet signatures. No passwords to remember. No email verification.

x402 Protocol
HTTP 402 PAYMENT PROTOCOL
Protocol for programmatic payments over HTTP using status code 402. Standardizes payment flow: server returns 402 with payment instructions, client submits crypto payment, server verifies via facilitator endpoints, then serves resource.
How x402 Works:
1) Client requests resource 2) Server returns 402 + payment details (amount, recipient, token) 3) Client constructs blockchain transaction 4) Server calls facilitator /verify endpoint to validate transaction 5) Facilitator calls /settle to execute payment 6) Server grants access to resource. All via standard HTTP without session state.
How AgarFi Uses x402:
Lobby entry endpoints return 402 status with USDC payment requirements. Client wallet constructs SPL token transfer. Server verifies transaction on Solana network before admitting player to game. Payouts use same protocol in reverse—server initiates transfer, client receives USDC.
